The Fraunhofer-Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML is an expert in all fields of internal and external logistics and the first address for all issues concerning a comprehensive logistics.
Fraunhofer IML was founded in 1981. Currently, 190 scientists as well as 250 post- and pre-graduates are supported by their collegues in the workshops, laboratories and administration. Project- and customer-related teams develop cross-industrial and customer-specific solutions, e.g. in the fields of material flow technology, warehouse management, business process modelling, simulation-aided enterprise and system planning, traffic systems, resource logistics, or E-Business. The »Internet of Things« is managed by Fraunhofer IML. In case of need Fraunhofer IML can fall back on 17,000 employees in 80 Fraunhofer institutes. With 120 partners and 11 research institutions the EffizienzCluster LogistikRuhr currently is the largest European logistic research project. Besides its headquartes in Dortmund Fraunhofer IML operates branches in Cottbus, Frankfurt/Main, Prien/Chiemsee, Lisbon and Beijing.
